Carl Zeiss has been active on the market for thermal imagers since around 1970. Its subsidiary, Carl Zeiss Optronics, has now taken over this role. Following the launch of common modules, numerous thermal imaging devices with user-specific modules were developed for the German Army based on the 1st generation of the common modules that originated in the USA. In-house and contract projects led to the development of even more powerful, state-of-the-art thermal imagers for army, air force, naval and paramilitary applications.
Carl Zeiss Optronics is the leading developer, manufacturer and distributor of optronic systems in Germany. The company is one of the largest providers of thermal imagers in Europe.
